Appellant appealed his conviction for possession of cocaine on the ground that the trial court abused its discretion in denying his motion to suppress evidence. The Court of Appeals held that because the record did not reflect a ruling on appellants motion, nothing was preserved for review. Gutierrez v. State, No. 14-96-01017-CR slip op. (Tex. We granted discretionary review to decide whether the Court of Appeals erred in holding that the record did not sufficiently show that appellants motion to suppress was denied.
